Helllloooooooo

Written by Deputy's Wife on August 31st, 2009

I will give you the highlighted version of what has occurred in the last several months.  I don’t want to bore you with tiny details that don’t really matter AND I am too lazy to write much more than the basics.

1)  My step-daughter moved in with us several days after her high school graduation.  It was a complete shock she came to live with us.  I honestly didn’t think she would stayed more than a week, but she has.  It will be three months.  It has been nice having her here with us.  No problems.  At all.  Thank God.

2)  She will start her freshman year of college tomorrow.  For the first year (or two), she will live with us and drive back and forth.

3)  Did you know that a person can register for college, file FAFSA, and get student loans within 30 days?  Well, you can.  We did it.  Since her mother never did.  Oops, I wasn’t supposed to say that.

4)  It is official.  Every single child in this household is attending school.  Jack is a kindergartner!  It seems like he was just born yesterday.  My babe is in full time school.  Sigh.

5)  I told The Deputy I should become a stay at home mom.  He wondered why I would want to do that since all the kids are in school now.  And I said, Exactly.

6)  In March-ish we decided to remodel the kitchen.  Big Time.  By the time we got done with the kitchen designer, we decided to move the kitchen to another part of the house.  And move the location of our downstairs bathroom.  The cabinets, flooring, fixtures, shower, toilet, sink, on and on, are all on stand-by waiting for the contractor.

7)  The contractor has delayed our project twice.  Now, his official start date is Jan. 4th.  It’s really not his fault, there has been some unforeseen problems with his other projects.  He is a great guy and came highly recommended.  I just want him here NOW!

8)  I am seriously considering moving this blog back to blogger.  I hate the templates.  I get disgusting spamalot comments.  I don’t like how my blog looks.  Blah Blah Blah.

9)  In my crazy mind, if I go back to blogger, which is what I am familiar with.  Maybe, just maybe, I will start writing again.  Maybe.  (Also, blogger is free.)

10)  That’s it.  I have a little more to tell you, but let’s see if I can drag my butt back to the computer to keep you updated.  (As if you were waiting on pins and needles.)

Baseball

Written by Deputy's Wife on June 27th, 2009

In this family, we are in our infant years of baseball.  There is no travel teams, daily practices, well practice Monday – Thursday only.  Next year I hear that my oldest will have to be on a traveling team to play baseball.  I can already feel the taxi-mom confessions already coming on…

At least they like it.  So do I.  There is nothing like sitting out in the blistering heat watching your children kick dust.  Really.

At least they don’t take winning to heart.  Oh wait… they do.

Spam, and not the kind you eat.

Written by Deputy's Wife on June 17th, 2009

I love Spam.  Spam and eggs.  Spam on toast.  Love it.

I do not love spam.  Crazy spam comments.  BAHHHH!  Hate them.

How do I get rid of them?

Yesterday?

It seems just like yesterday they were all babies.

Graduation, and a break

Our graduation girl.  She completed high school in three years.  We are very proud of her.  What an accomplishment!

Our summer break is upon us.  Last year I had a HUGE list of things I wanted to complete over the summer.  And when I didn’t complete at least HALF of the list, I was very disappointed.  This year, no list.  Some ideas though.  If I get to it, fine.  If I don’t, fine.

One thing that I have been faithfully working on over the past couple of years is starting to look good. The Big House has the latest and greatest pictures of the project. Make sure you take a looksie. Because finally I am feeling a little accomplished!

An evening out…

Written by Deputy's Wife on April 17th, 2009

It was an evening out for us.  First was Nate’s first grade spring concert.  A bunch of first graders jumping around, giggling, and picking noses.  Nate had a speaking part.  We are so proud of him.  He was the first one up and read his script very well.

We decided to head out to dinner.  Nate was able to choose, so fortunately he chose mexican and not a fast food joint.  It was fun.  Even when snot boy made an appearance.  (See last photo.)

I’ve gotta picture.

I promised a picture the other day, so here it is.  Not great of me, but I love his little face leaning over my shoulder.

It was my intention to post a picture of a quilt I am working on.  Then I realized it is a gift, so it is now officially top-secret.  My step-daughter is graduating from high school this May.  (A year early, thankyouverymuch.)  She does know she is getting a quilt and I don’t think she reads my blog, I am still a little nervous about divulging any info.  Yet.  I will say it is turning out VERY nice and I am pleased so far.  Which most likely means she will hate it.  HA!

Today was our last day of Easter break.  As of tomorrow, there is exactly seven weeks until school is out for summer.  Excuse me while I go dance around my computer.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

To my family:

I am sorry, but we will not be having cheesecake for dessert today.  I dropped it on the floor last night.

All I can say is, oops.

Love,

DW

My blog is still ugly.

Written by Deputy's Wife on April 10th, 2009

I am still here.  My blog is still ugly.

A couple of months of nothingness, then we have everything going on.

Tomorrow, hopefully, happy pictures.

Today, I got nothing.

Except for…

Max our dog lost his manhood today.  Our house now has four males, two eunuchs (cat and dog), and a female.  Me.  If the remainder of the males don’t start paying attention to their aim in the bathroom, they might be next.

I am working on step-daughters graduation quilt.  I have exactly seven days until I NEED to have it to the quilter.  So far, that time table is looking good.

I have been making time to sew every day.  It has been fun.  Unfortunately, my housework has felt neglected.  And it is starting to show.

If tonight is any indication how the next five days of Easter break will be, I’m in trouble.  Three boys are arguing at ear-piercing levels right behind me.

Gotta go.  Time to drop the hammer as The Deputy says.

I’ll spare you the details…

of the most horrible stomach flu I have ever had.  (I say that every single time I get it.)  I stayed home with my oldest son who had it yesterday.  Today, The Deputy stayed home with me and oldest son, because he STILL has it.  Fortunately I think he is on the upswing now.

I knew something was up last night when I was falling asleep in the chair at 8 pm.  That never happens.  At 1 am, it hit.  And boy did it hit hard.  My body is like a bowl of jello.  I feel like a weeble when I walk.  7-Up is my best friend.

I am going to weeble wobble myself back to bed.
